From Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, you can travel to Luang Prabang in two ways:
By road: through the border gates of Vietnam and Laos: Lao Bao, Quang Tri, Bo Y – Kon Tum) and take a drive to Luang Prabang. In Hanoi, you can buy ticket to Vientiane at 3A Nguyen Gia Thieu, near the Embassy of Laos or 35B Nguyen Huy Tuong or at Nuoc Ngam Car Station. Busses to Laos often departure from 8:00PM and arrive Vientiane at 4:00 PM the next day.
